Sportsbooks and draft analysts agree when it comes to Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham. Both list Cunningham as the overwhelming MI sports betting favorite to go No. 1 in Thursday’s draft.
When the Pistons earned the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery, the team's fans and fans of NBA betting in Michigan were immediately excited at the idea Cunningham could join the team. At 6-foot-8, he’s one of the most versatile and effective scorers in the draft. Last season he averaged 20.2 points and shot 41.2% from 3-point range while displaying the ability to finish around the rim with touch or power.
Jalen Green, Evan Mobley Other options
It’s been reported from multiple outlets that the Pistons have accepted calls regarding deals for the No. 1 pick and are still debating on who to choose. But it seems to be a mere formality with the team doing its due diligence by considering every option. It would likely take a special offer that blows the team away for Detroit to consider moving down and taking either USC’s Evan Mobley or Jalen Green, who spent last season in the G-League.
Detroit’s internal meetings are still revolving around three players for the No. 1 pick on Thursday night — Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green and Evan Mobley, sources tell ESPN. Green hosted the Pistons for a workout in Southern California and then traveled to Detroit for a follow-up visit. He averaged 17.9 points in the G-League and is one of the most explosive players who also has a well-rounded offensive repertoire. Green is +1500 to go No. 1.
Mobley, a versatile two-way big man, averaged 16.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3 blocks per game last season. He’s one of the rare big prospects who has remarkable touch, feel and handle to go along with all of the physical gifts in his 7-foot frame. It’s been reported Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver is a fan of Mobley. At DraftKings, Mobley is +2500 for the No. 1 draft spot.
