There is a new option coming to gambling in Michigan, starting Sunday.

BetMGM Michigan will hold its week-long Summer Classic July headline poker series from July 17-24.

Summer Classic will have 25 events over eight days and will run simultaneously in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The series has more than $540,000 in guarantees.

Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware, Connecticut and West Virginia are the only states with legal online poker.

That group of states, with the exception of Nevada, also have MI real money online casinos.

“We’re excited to follow-up on the momentum we gathered in Las Vegas through this month’s online event, the Summer Classic,” said Luke Staudenmaier, director of poker for BetMGM, in a news release. “The Classic, which spotlights America’s pastime, features buy-in levels and game variants for all players.”

BetMGM has had an online poker tournament series in July before; this is just the first one branded as Summer Classic in Michigan online poker.

BetMGM Poker Championship, held in June in partnership with ARIA, was the second in-person event of the year. It followed March Poker Mania, which was held online but also had live components at MGM Grand Detroit in Michigan.

You must be physically located in Michigan (BetMGM Poker) to be eligible for any of the Summer Classic tournaments.
