BetMGM, a leading sports betting and iGaming operator, announced on Thursday the opening of its private live dealer studio for Michigan online casinos.

The studio was built in partnership with Evolution Gaming, BetMGM’s live casino partner and a business-to-business supplier of live casino content.

BetMGM Casino launched its Michigan live dealer offering in July 2021 and quickly established itself as one of the market leaders in the space, according to a news release.

“This beautiful, new studio enhances BetMGM’s live casino experience in Michigan and deepens our partnership with Evolution,” BetMGM Director of Gaming Oliver Bartlett said in the release. “Inspiried by the MGM Resorts brand, the studio is adorned with the iconic golden lion and the familiar black and gold BetMGM color scheme. We’re confident that it will amplify our market-leading casino offering in Michigan.”

The opening of the new studio allows players the opportunity to interact with a live dealer and other players in a variety of table games of varying price points, including blackjack, roulette and baccarat, the release said.

iGaming Leader in Michigan

After launching in Michigan in January 2021, BetMGM Casino quickly became the state’s iGaming leader. It currently holds a 39% market share in Michigan.

In the May state financial report, BetMGM  had $44.3 million in adjusted gross receipts, more than double FanDuel at Motor City Casino ($18.1 million) and DraftKings at Bay Mills Indian Community ($16 million), according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

In March 2022, Michigan reported a state record of $131.7 million in iGaming receipts, a record that lasted just a month as that number jumped to $132.4 million in April, according to the Detroit News, which also reported that internet casino revenue surpassed $1 billion in Michigan in 2021. Michigan online poker and online casino sites then generated more than $127 million in May.

Studio Is ‘One of the Grandest We’ve Built’

“We’re thrilled that BetMGM has again entrusted Evolution with providing a full dedicated studio solution, powered by our technology,” Evolution North America Commercial Director Jeff Millar said in the release. “As we set out to create a unique feel that players would love, the BetMGM studio in Michigan is one of the grandest we’ve built.

“We’re excited to continue our work within the state of Michigan, while strengthening our ongoing partnership with BetMGM.”

BetMGM added in the release that a key focus is “responsible gaming education” through GameSense, an industry-leading program developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corp. Through GameSense, BetMGM customers can directly access responsible gaming tools.
